Its been a few months since any new content has come from my blog and in this post I am going to answer a couple of questions that have been asked from a couple of curious people that have been following me and the blog…
What have I been up to?
Like many, COVID-19 has completely affected my day to day life and it has definitely put my travel plans firmly on hold. Whilst being firmly stuck in the UK during the national lockdown, besides working throughout at my day job, I have actually been able to buy my first home and have spent a good amount of time finishing renovating it to how I want it!
Although now a homeowner, once life returns back to hopeful normality and I am able to safely travel abroad again, I have no intention of slowing my travel down or stopping altogether. My future plan is to increase my travelling due to the large amount of time I have had off from it during the Pandemic! The time I have had off though from travelling has really allowed me to step back and appreciate what I have done in the past and I think when things do hopefully return back to normal I will be taking advantage of every opportunity I can to get away!
Whats happened to the blog?
Although I have not been posting any new content (as I have not being travelling anywhere!… a key part of a travel blog!) I have had a bit of time to work on the site itself and tweak a couple of bits that I didn’t really like and adjust things which I personally found I could improve on. These improvements should hopefully make it make it better for people to find the information they were looking for!
As an example, now if you go into the ‘Destinations’ and ‘Tips’ pages of the blog, you have a single one-stop page for each, with all the relevant links to posts within. There are no more unnecessary pages within the blog anymore, which make you have to search further than you want to for information! If I have created a post of the topic or destination you will find it there, anything that isn’t covered is always on the table for me to create a post on too!
One thing which I never really understood when I started this blog (mainly because I had never worked on a blog before!) was the categorisation and tagging system that WordPress has, so I have gone through and retagged and categorised everything appropriately which should again make it easier for people to find the content they are after!
Whats coming up?
My last big trip I went on prior to the pandemic was my Thailand, Cambodia and Laos trip in February with GAdventures, which doesn’t even feel like this year now considering everything that has happened to the world! I still have some useful unreleased content on a handful of places that I visited when on that trip, so over the next few weeks I am going to post these to give people some post-pandemic travel inspiration!
After posting the last of my Thailand, Cambodia and Laos trip posts I aim to start producing new content in the original, concise format I had it in before! I also have many travel topics which I want to share my experience of.
At the time of writing this post the UK has in place a very extensive but unstable travel policy on certain countries which it has named ‘Travel Corridors’. These are countries which the UK government has deemed ‘high risk’ due to apparent rising COVID-19 cases within. This ‘Travel Corridor’ list is constantly changing with countries being added and removed on a weekly basis.
When either; a vaccine is developed and this pandemic is declared over, a COVID-19 airport test on arrival system is in place to make 14 day quarantine no longer needed and/or the numbers of cases completely drop to an insignificant level, I believe will be the point when I will be travelling to new places again!
So until at least one of the 3 above scenarios happen, I am still kind of stuck with what new content I can share! but I will try my best to deliver what content I can for those that are subscribed and planning their post pandemic travel!
If there is anything that you would like me to cover in a future post, please get in touch by following this link and I will try my best to help!
